You must be thinking about a Lodge dutch oven which I also have. I wasn't going to overpay for a name brand since I didn't see much difference. I'm glad I didn't since it weighs a ton.

there are many enameled cast iron pieces that will perform admirably and consistently, for many years of frequent use, priced less than a hundred bucks (check Amazon).

There are certainly many that are priced under $100 at Amazon. But are they as good? There are certainly many that are NOT as good. Ones that'll chip badly, and heat unevenly, and all that. But there ARE sales for Le Creuset and Staub, and it pays to keep an eye out.

After all, most people don't need more than two Dutch ovens...
