You may want to read JTFM’s recent, late August posts on the IHub ANIP board. He forecasts a MRK buyout there because MRK is looking for several acquisitions in the $1-10-15 Billion range.
MRK did develop Zocor, aka Simvastatin, with which Amarin’s Vascepa is taken. PFE had Lipitor, AZN had Crestor.
How long do you assume it will take AMRN to get back to cash flow neutral after having coverage for 25% of the business being dropped by one of the top 3 PBM's?? Its been a long time since AMRN has had significant profits that generate significant increases in cash flow. Revenues outside of North America are very slow in developing trends necessary to become a Billion Dollar drug !
I would love to see a buyback now but agree with a pause until cash flow stabilizes due to PBM issue. Also need more uptake in ROW. I can see the buyback taking place in 2025 but again, it depends, in part, on these factors IMO.
Maybe we’ll get lucky and won’t need the buyback. ;-)
I have tried multiple times to research how an Irish NOL carryforward would be treated in a foreign acquisition. I can't seem to find anything definitive. However, I would expect that Sarissa would find a way to structure a sale to take advantage of it. Maybe it means selling to a U.S.-based company's Irish subsidiary or something like that. But I would love to know for sure that they can take advantage of it.
