That kind of simple comparison is easy to get excited about.

Whether anyone agrees or disagrees with not getting values, it likely means Kim is not willing to tell competitors those values.

Maybe he will once products are on the market. Either way, it is unmatched....not according to Kim, but to Dr. Kumar. He's never seen anything like DS.

"If Thompson had reported measurements of both his mundane silk and the Bam-1 silk,"

You would have picked it apart by the seams then ridiculed every word he said after that. Instead he chose not to and silently said FU.

Suppose Thompson reported 0.5 and 2.0 GPa for mundane and Bam-1 silk samples.

I guess a reason for vagueness could be the natural variance in working with biological creatures. I doubt he'll ever be able to guarantee 2.0 GPa on every batch. I think there has to be a range that is acceptable. No idea what that might be, 1.7 to 2.1???
Still, even without numbers or a 3rd party if he had a potential customer come out and say, "We were at the testing and this silk is stronger and tougher than anything we ever seen," that would perk up investors in a major way. That's exactly what some test lab in Korea said a few years ago, then they disappeared like a fart in the wind.
It's just so damn annoying the way he seems to deliberately hold the price down.

<< Statements along the lines of ‘It’s as strong as the samples we measured several years ago” >>

That isn't what was said in today's PR.

First, they said that they tested BAM against ordinary silk:

"samples of the Company’s commercially produced spider silk against samples of mundane silk in a head-to-head test"

Second, they said that the results were similar to the "small batch" from late last year.

"the material performance .... matches the .... previous small batch"

There was NO comparison between previous hybrids (such as Big Red, Monster Silk, Dragon Silk 1, etc).

The only comparison was between ordinary silk and the previous BAM small batch.
