I never said it was a bad thing, just explaining the larger picture for those who don’t understand how it works. They are great at soaking up the shares the company is continually selling into the market.
Joe six pack and your local teachers are now unknowingly funding the experiment and insiders paychecks.
The flip side is if the market cap drops to a level where they start liquidating. That would put a ton of pressure on the stock and send it back to penny land.
It's agnostic with the one caveat. A low float just speeds up the movement that retail determines -- if retail is buying it goes up faster, if they are selling it goes down faster.
The caveat is if the index funds sell out.
For now , retail over time sets the price. That's the real key.
Evidence?: As the company has continued to disappoint the price has gone down even while the indexes and institutional holding has gone up.
It's not because of some collusion or dark force plot or plan by passive index funds!
