I doubt anyone thinks something that slows progression by 45% annually is the permanent solution. But, there is nothing on the horizon presently that approaches that - and nothing as safe. Progress in AD has been excruciatingly slow - AChEIs are still Rx'ed for every patient, 30+ years later.
Edit: btw, I think being the SOC for only a few years is hardly a grim possibility.
