I think it was that large artery that control the blood to my legs and feet.

Yep, the aorta. I have not had the symptoms of coldness or inability to walk yet but my Doc says it won't be long based on the ankle brachial index test he ran.

I see a vascular surgeon later this month for further tests to see where the block(s) are. If I need surgery, I hope it is a stent and not an aortic bypass which is a lot (LOT) more serious surgery. Time will tell.

How long did it take you to recover from the aortic stent? Meanwhile, I gotta get off the ciggies.

zab, Thanks for all that info. It's not only good to know for personal reasons but good to know to be able to pass on. Agree totally that over months and years the breathing feels better. When i was into 75 cigs every day, 100 once or twice a week, say they cost around $2.50 for a pack of 25.

Day before yesterday a friend who still smokes a little, not even one a day every day, said a packet of 30 cost $60. No doubt government policy of boosting nicotine cost to the public has helped many to quit. And saved many and government in medical costs.

Another friend who still smokes a very few a day says the black-market under the counter cigs are back in at the tobacconist in Marrickville where i used to buy mine. They stopped selling that stuff for quite a time after all the shops around were raided.
