yeah, I guess that's being a little over the top. Mine is a little hand held deal that I got before I got a phone. Like most of the crap here, now that you've piqued my interest, I will dig it out and test it as long as the batteries that I most likely left in there haven't corroded it to death. I think I know where it is.
I was just saying that it's an easier way to be clandestine and probably really good for a hiker where there is no cell phone access.
I never ran the range like you so it was just a toy for me.
edit: HA, found it, it is called an e-trex and made by Garmin too. Yup, batteries corroded badly.
