nothing on the market beats gps for navigation and orienteering, imho. my first personal one was called a Tom Tom I think, worked fine. I think most sets had about a 30 meter accuracy, there are ones out there now used for legal land surveying that are within inches or less in accuracy. I find it humorous that people are so dependent upon them now, to the extent that map reading is basically a dwindling art.
