Wow. 1 out of 21. Are there any sellers left? LOL. I just had my windows and doors painted and a 6 pack of 1.5" blue masking tape was $45. The painters went through 4 of those in a week. What's 3M's liability wrt PFA's.
The only thing I'll say about this Dew is that when 95% of analysts rate a great company less than a buy, there probably aren't a lot of sellers left. The pricing we see here today is a combination of the Powell put and seasonality along with litigation problem.
As I look at the price action of MMM today however it doesn't appear there are Wall Street buyers out there yet. Wall Street began buying the market just before 1PM Eastern but MMM was flat all afternoon. Four years ago this was a $250 stock, it's now half price. Somewhere around here is fair value.
In the past MMM has been one of my favorite companies...and if your time frame is long I like the company. What no one can predict is how far the shares may fall. I'm watching, but still leary of ongoing legal issues.
3M addendum—An appellate court ruling on JNJ's Texas two-step with respect to talc liabilities is expected soon. If the appellate court upholds JNJ's ability to ring-fence its talc liabilities, that will be a positive development for 3M.
