Liabilities and economic headwinds have left 3M stock without many supporters on Wall Street. Only one out of 21 analysts covering the stock rates shares Buy. That’s less than 5%. The average Buy-rating ratio for stocks in the S&P 500 is about 58%.
So, it looks like I’m the contrarian on this one. I’m not only holding my shares, but also estimating that 3M has a 30-40% of ultimately prevailing in its attempt to fence-ring the earplug liability (#msg-169803125).
Closed at $125 today. Bargain or value trap? Yielding 4.8%. There's a point where I'll jump back in and take a chance. A dividend king with a P/E of 12 is not something you see very often.
