Not sure I understand what's wrong with "true fear of any guns".
I agree about consistent laws but we have a Congress full of knuckleheads who think states rights are of paramount importance. Right now they're pushing hard to allow anyone with a concealed carry permit in one state to carry in all states, regardless of local laws.
I get it if you live out in the country somewhere and wolves are regularly attacking your livestock. Otherwise, why do you need a gun? And, particularly, why does anyone need a handgun? Of course law enforcement excepted.
I was at a rowdy demonstration in London about 4 years ago, spectating. I saw some unarmed police keeping order and found myself, at one point, standing next to a couple of them. I asked why they weren't armed and one pointed to his mouth and said they were trained to use it as a weapon.
