#374887 RE: swg_tdr #374884

The Dry eye condition results from inflammation of the lacrimal gland...and Vascepa, through its anti-inflammatory activity, enables the lacrimal gland to produce more tears and alleviate dry eyes...This result has been reported anecdotally by many(including J.L., (who used to post here), and needs a scientific study to be approved for a large market.

Dryness of eyes produces corneal stippling(which causes the irritation) and, by a simple computer count of the number of stipples after treatment with Vascepa, as opposed to no treatment, Vascepa could be proven to be effective in treating dry eyes, which a common condition.

Amarin would probably have started such testing if their momentum had not been stopped by the adverse patent decision.

Several profitable drugs are now being marketed for dry eye, but they don't work as well as Vascepa.
