Why would 3M do anything else? From a business POV it would be irresponsible to do the right thing in this environment. As we know, corporations are defined as people...with trillions of dollars. The Supreme Court is largely populated by jurists chosen by the Federalist Society. This is unlikely to change for decades. See the history of the Supreme Court to understand how backward this body tends to be. Dred Scott vs. Sandford is a good place to start.
There may be a time in the future where US business acts with some center of morality but that time is still decades away. As always, I'm not judging, only observing. All investors need to be keen observers of the milieu in which they're investing.
