area under the curve. I have not seen it used for scales like RSBQ but it is a very common pharmacokinetic measure for total exposure.
My guess (only a guess) is that patients who had trouble tolerating 30 mg were backed off say to 10 mg and then re-raised to 30 mg. Or there was a titration for some patients. So some patients total 7 week exposure would be less than someone placed on 30 mg daily x 7 weeks (which would be 30*7*7= 1470 mgday exposure)
