Max 40 million+ didn't surprise me, I just thought he would get like 2/80-85 to be honest. Because there is a value to giving a pitcher that was as good as max such a short-term deal. As of last year, he wasn't just a big name, but he was still pitching like a cy young contender. His arm could fall off tomorrow that is the risk, than again that is the risk with any pitcher.

I truely believe lots of teams were at two years (because there is a value to a franchise to be locked in just two year to a pitcher this good). I truely believe the mets had to go to 3 to get him. Versus say a cole who you are locked in for 9 years. This is not a dig on cole as I think he will bounce back in 2022 and be excellent.

But still your tied in for 9 years, with position players the risk of them getting hurt is much less, but with pitchers I would never want to give more than a 5 year deal. Still I would of personally given ray the 5 year 115 million, because I like ray think seattle got a good deal there, and with a right bat or two could challenge the Astros, especially when they lose correa most likely in my opinion.

If degromm and Schzerer stay healthy the mets will be very good. If they don't they won't. Thing is Scherzer is a bit of a degromm insurance policy and degromm is the same for scherzer, if you bring in another quality starter, and fix the bullpen you should be good even if one of them are an ace and the other is hurt, if two of them stay healthy than they are better then the braves assuming they fix the bullpen which is my primary concern at this point.

Was sad that iglesisas sign for 4/58. Go steal Jensen away from the dodgers mets. Maybe the brewers will be in a trading mood, They can use a bat or two. Just my opinion of course.
