Okay, the box is resetting now. Fingers crossed. Doing that turned off the computer, too, since both are plugged into the same power strip. I'll wait till the reset is done before restarting it

The box is finished now, and has completed its setup routine. Now I'll try turning on the computer. Wish me luck...

And sad to say, that didn't work. The computer is still telling me that Safari can't establish a secure connection to the server.

And the fan thing and System Preferences are still telling me that I'm connected. Though I notice for the first time that at the top of the column, there a notice in grayscale that alternates between saying "Wi-Fi On" and "Wi-Fi looking for networks".

Though I'm not sure that's significant, because it's always scanning for other networks.
