I know in February it was posted that Vascepa would only be allowed with PA Trigs between 150-500 and meet the criteria as set forth in FDA approval for CVD. Trigs above 500 would get gL. gV was completely dropped. The time for this change was to be May 1st.
Is this what has happened and LB and you have pointed out? Basically, you just have to have PA to get Vascepa?
I like your idea Zman if someone with UHC insurance could check on this.
UHC is a for profit company...regardless of them making Vascepa available with prior authorization they will do all in their power to switch any Vascepa scrips to (significantly cheaper) generic Lovaza. Generic Vascepa is very expensive so they do not even want to offer that. They want to substitute generic lovaza for any Vascepa scrip if they can get away with it.
As I have said before, Amarin gets no respect. Maybe if it were owned by an entity with some gravitas. This is the real problem for Vascepa and Amarin. Even if Judge Du's demented verdict is reversed it does not solve this problem for Amarin.
