Well, we know K8L can boot Windows several months after first silicon, and we also know that Penryn has booted 4 operating systems within a month of first silicon. Based on current data, it suggests that K8L is a more of a bust, while Penryn is more of a home run. ;-)

I think it's fair to say it is more due to AMDs management than Intels this arch materialized.
