that's right Steve, that's why I wrote

1) they appear to be all-silicon

from your captured photo the slide shows "silicon micro-ring" modulator, it does NOT use the term "all-silicon" as was used with the photo-detector, this subtle difference could mean that another material is in play, but I doubt it because of the the 2nd point I made on that deeper dive

2) they are extremely temperature sensitive so they have to use electronic IC controlled heaters to compensate for temperature changes and fine tune and stabilize the resonant wavelengths


this sure doesn't sound like it is cheap and/or efficient to me, so I highly doubt LWLG's technology is being used here, however, it does not mean that they do not have another development program going on with LWLG's technology being implemented, Intel is a HUGE company, and they may not be ready to showcase the big guns of true Next-Gen Transceivers just yet

my biggest takeaway on all of this is that it really puts an emphasis on just how great the Industry's need is today for a solution that LWLG has developed and fine tuned In-Hand today!
