that reminds me of a suggestion i meant to make to Matt: anybody on iHub selling services or otherwise soliciting should have their aliases show up in Fuscia or something equally identifiable.

if someone has a potential conflict going on, i want to know about it before reading their posts.

I agree. I don't stop by IHUB very often and post less, but the arrogance of these self appointed gurus is something I find repulsive. The posts I find most thoughtful and interesting are from those who do not sell these services. And, I fully agree, that people who sign up for these services should think about why someone who is actually as good as they 'claim' to be would even bother running a little 'below the radar' service. My experience has been that people who sell these services, for the most part, do so because they aren't very good - they're just good at BS.

LG, real simple. There is honor in the fellowship of threads. There is no honor in preying upon newbies.

LG, I agree with you 100% and think the suggestion of color coding the names is excellent. Thanks for bringing this up.

Not sure how thinks work on IHub, but another possible problem is giving away free memberships. When a certain guru switched from RB to SI many free memberships were given away, all you needed was a valid email address. This person was also allowed to advertise their seminar on a daily basis.

Another thought about posting trades versus a track record, somewhat akin to paper trading and actually pushing the buttons IMHO.

LG, I set just finished setting up a pay pal account. I'll PM you the access code and as soon as you deposit $50.00 then i'll respond. (vbg)

The way I see it, a lot of us grew up on SI and now Ihub, trading, and learning from others and sharing, free of charge... techniques. I think it says something about ones character that once they reach a level of competency themselves (at least I hope they have), that they then break with tradition and start charging these same traders for there opinion. Needless to say, it is not something I admire in a person. I also think I would view there service differently if they solicited and charged people that are not part of this free community that we all grew up learning from each other in.

by the way LG, when are you going to start posting charts regularly. I'm tired of having to do my own work (vbg)

DITTO LG
I don't see how they have time to advice their clients on there trades, trade their own account and be on other treads informing everyone else of their trades. If i were paying someone for their time, i think i would want there full attention.

LG,

I agree. Certain people (not to mention names O) sound like used car salesmen and are incredible bores.

>>>one of IHub's resident subscription service self-proclaimed trading gurus<<<

LG, imo this point is moot, almost everybody that's posts on these boards is a guru in their own mind =g=

your warning might have been good in (but not listened to) in 1999, but now most (but not) everybody is a jaded market follower.

i don't think too many people are throwing money at a paid service now and expecting to get rich, though I may be wrong given that there are infomercials by optionetics, etc. on tv regularly -g-

I pointed out on these threads about a month or two ago, two market newsletter writers who have been following the markets since the 70's, who were publishing their market calls on Aegean Capital on a monday night, one was saying sell all stocks now we are going to crash, the other was saying to hold the course and stay long.

both of these calls were not ST calls, but it to lt calls,

there are no guru's, good market timing is a combination of sweat and luck, just like any business venture.
