It's an index fund that follows precise and mechanical stock selection rules. Being a "total market" index fund it is required to have some microcaps. It's been a fabulous holding for 35 years. Current expense ratio is about 0.10%. Doubt fund management knows almost anything about their microcap holdings which probably comprise about 5% of the portfolio.
One other thing. Current Portfolio Turnover: 4.0%! So it's an extremely efficient and tax advantaged way to invest.
Was there any verifiable proof other than internet 3rd parties that this company actually had physical property, equipment and did indeed drill in reality. I ask because mining scams like lumbs Hunt mining company never did any actual drilling, but used salted samples and old pictures to pump that company. The only on the ground witness's were insider shareholders and a few paid pumpers working the photoshop.
