Cosmetic is truly not the correct adjective for the procedure.

Being one of those who took the risk, you must consider what I say when I tell you the procedure is "life altering." Ask others who have had it done; "life altering" is a common theme.

The human brain fills in so much information when one wears glasses, that one forgets how beautiful it is to see free from chains. This is without even discussing (1) sports; (2) shower and shave; (3) rain and weather; and (4) cosmetic appeal.

By the way, the approx. royalty per eye for VISX is $50. At $100 per procedure in US, one can see why EYE's valuation could multiply.

Zeev,

re: What people forget, however, this is an extremely invasive procedure, done only for cosmetic reasons, nothing is wrong functionally with eye glasses.

In my own anecdotal situation, I have been wearing eyeglasses for farsightedness and astigmatism since I was 3 years old (almost 50 years). First, I have been wearing eyeglasses so long that they just seem to be "part of me" by now. Second, I will opt for laser surgery only when no other option is possible. If and when the time comes for cataract surgery, I will go for it. However, as long as my eyeglasses work, I wouldn't dream of undergoing laser surgery. For me, I would never risk my vision (regardless how small the risk) for something I believe is unnecessary.
