But they have to cover within a certain amount of time, and if there were indeed 4 billion shares short on ex-divy date then someone ain't covering. There are shorts, there are naked shorts, and there are ILLEGAL naked shorts (the ones that are not and never intend to be covered)

I didn't say it was illegal-but when there may be upwards of more than 1 Billion shares NSS-the mm's are doing more than "making a market"

someone at one time had a good idea of how many NSS were out there-anyone remember the number?
