I noticed the same. This is taken straight out of the fake news media's playbook:

1) Person X gives a long speech.
2) Fake news hoaxer takes a one line quote from that speech, out of context, adds their own bias and spin and treats that as news.

Generics did the exact same thing.

I agree with your analysis and conclusions. I do give the defense lawyers a lot of credit for a very well-written document that paints their clients' position in the best possible light. However, just because their lawyers did the best job they could, does not mean that their weak legal position all of a sudden has merit.
