Vascepa was initially underpriced as it had to compete against generic Lovaza. So now the medication is being priced closer to what it should have been to begin with. In Europe, the price for Vascepa will be negotiated on a country by country basis, and they do take into consideration how effective the drug is. I am not concerned about how Vascepa is priced today, I'm hoping it will be Big Pharma's problem soon enough.
AMRN isn't required to be the bagholder for redressing Big Pharma greed. AMRN/Vascepa is the pattern buster when it comes to Big Pharma soaking the poor for small incremental health benefits.
Good post Tasty.
I'm not disagreeing with you here, just thought this might be a good place for a somewhat related public service comment.
A recent paper in EHJ reported on the timing of taking blood pressure medications (morning vs evening).
The trial had 19,000 patients and observed ~1800 events over 6 years.
The saw a 45% RRR in patients who took their BP meds at night vs in the morning.
That's a remarkable health benefit. Doesn't cost a thing. And I just wanted to bring this to others attention here who might benefit or have a loved one who might benefit (I am on several BP meds and now take mine at night).
