Only if they spend time and money to search for it. Who really will when they do understand how the stock market works, plus what and why would they invest their time and energy to do such especially when the stock is still in limbo.. plus it's well understood that we all trade at our own risk.
Plus, this particular short cannot and may not be one person. If you do the math, it may not have been a lot of money plus they did NOT have to pay anything for the shares to have had to short it as it was delisted the day they needed to have paid or given the shares back etc.... MOASS will happen if DBMM wins it all and perhaps even DBMM is counting on that as well and why someone stated is why they maybe fighting so hard to win and why shorts are also fighting for them to lose.
