Hi Coal, as I mentioned to Earnie, I see this as strategic strikes to slowdown if not stop nuclear weapon build out. The way I look at this is that Israel cannot survive a nuclear attack. No way, no how, will they become sitting ducks. Iran can develop or buy all the conventional weaponry it wants, but nukes are the real issue here. I for one do not underestimate Israel's resolve or ability to perform such an undertaking be it through the conventional playbook (night strikes of power and communications followed by high priority targets) or via cruise missles launched from sea, maybe both? I do not see an all out war scenario unless others get involved.

In the bigger picture, this is what we (USA) probably wants to happen. We are on Iran's doorstep and can do what is necessary to enable/support Israel's (USA) objective. We will not initiate the strikes ourselves due to the fallout from the Iraq debacle and public opinion in general, but don't kid yourself into believing that this is not what this administration has wanted or that we will not get involved once Israel stirs the pot.

As distasteful, insane or whatever other adjective you care to add to the appearance of this issue/situation (let me predicate this with the fact that I have believed all along that an attack of Iraq was completely unnecessary, even before we went there) they accomplished what they wanted out of it: 1) control of a large oil depot 2) big paydays for insiders via no bid contracts 3) getting a foot in the M.E. door.

Whatever China and Russia do, they will do so with or without our consent regardless of what is happening in the area. They have their own agendas to fulfill. Releasing the pit bulls on Iran is most likely ours...

They also are apparently equipped with an outstanding passive radar system built by Ukraine. It is better than anything else out there at the moment and with it being passive, stealth tech based on active radar is useless.
