This is why are partner is required to straighten out some of their decision strategies. It should be a no brainer as you correctly state. My concerns are as to who is advising them. Hope that it’s not Jeffries. Massulo RPH.
Why is there a disconnect with the primary care doctors. Seems like if they were up to speed it would be great for everyone. Rather than just ignoring that group.
At what cost to the patient do you push his LDL's under 70, do you look to see what his HDL's are? Total cholesterol? I kind of like my Primary looking at the large picture, plus I review my own lipids before seeing my Primary. I have hemochromatosis, as well as a wife that is a practitioner (NICU) she wouldn't write me a scrip for penicillin when we first married, nor anything else since. I nearly died from the battle of meatheads. I'm your wife, not your doctor bs. Different story, but back to cardiologists, I like my primary care doc, I like that he wrote Vascepa for me with minor coaching on my part, I like that he knows and cares about my liver.
I also like that he respects my fear of statins. Lastly, as an investor in Amarin, I hope my next blood work shows an increase in my HDL's and the hell with your statins and your LDL's. Do I think he'll write more scripts of Vascepa if my HDL's do improve, who knows. JV was right, he mentioned that primary's would have to look up how to write the order, with my wife's help, JV's and another doc with his DAW1 suggestion, I had the job done for him, my doc didn't have to do any thinking, but that doesn't mean that Primary's can't think and they are a valuable source for Amarin to be targeting.
Cardiolo, I like your posts, a lot too; but I think you're aware that fellow docs think that many cardiologists have that god complex going and you're taking it out on them a bit much.
JV, my DES have not improved YET, but I'm still less then a month on V. I've stopped taking Xidra after four months, I find that drug to be worthless, and with side effects.
The bottom link is about statins and your liver, if anyone cares.
I think we could see a sale call redistribution if ACC weighs in on Vascepa and primary care treatment...this might happen at the March ACC meeting IMO.—BB
