Thank you Kiwi, with your thoughts concerning the loss of our dog.

You may remember that I, like yourself, have lived elsewhere at some point and am familiar with universal coverage elsewhere. What amazes me is that for a very capitalist and pro-business country that we cannot see how in other countries where healthcare is not tied to employed that it is so beneficial for business - especially small business.

Speaking of business, I did close on the sale of my business a little over a week ago and am just working on getting the new owners off on the right foot. Heading out later this week to see the kid on the left coast for Christmas. Thanks for asking.

Kiwi - OT reply to an OT post. There has not been a single moment in at least the last several decades that the US has not provided first class healthcare to all, whether or not they had money or insurance. (Look up how much was spent on John Wayne Bobbitt and how much he paid. When was the last time you saw a street person with an untreated injury? That's a common sight in many other countries.) Single payer would kill millions, and the attempt to move toward it has killed and is killing thousands of Americans. When it raised deductibles for most Americans by a factor of 5 or 10, with much higher premiums, people with insurance were less likely to get care and US life expectancy went down for the first time in many, many years (close to a century IIRC). An insurance salesman would go to prison for misrepresenting the facts the way politicians did re ACA.
