Freezing your credit does not affect the current accounts you have open or the limits.

What freezing your credit means that a reporting agency won't respond to a new credit application.

I do check my bank/credit activity at least weekly now.

You should also be able to set up your accounts so that they can send you a text to your cellphone in case of suspicious activity they see on your account.

As I said Citi offers that feature and I got a text the last time within an hour of them detecting the fraud.

If I freeze my credit, does that mean I can't use my credit cards? That just seems too extreme for my living habits.

I gather from TV commercials I've seen recently that there're now cards you can turn on and off from your cellphone...
