I don't know why they didn't?

One day I was trying to purchase a piece of equipment for a landscape business I had during that time. I tried to use my business credit card and it was declined. I went home and called the bank. They said my account had been cancelled. I went to creditkarma to do a quick look and there is when I discovered the fraud. I was like " I haven't used that card (AMEX) in some time, why are there charges on it"? It had been going on a few months and of course after non payment, charges finally stopped. Disputed claim and they reversed charges and bad credit rating, but it took at least 6 months to get my credit rating back to excellent.

I do check my bank/credit activity at least weekly now.
That wasn't the first time and I'm usually pretty careful. I go in the store to buy my gas, not at pump. All my cards and license are in an rfid wallet. Not much else I can do on my part. :(

If I freeze my credit, does that mean I can't use my credit cards? That just seems too extreme for my living habits.
