I'm something of the jalapeno king in this part of Texas. I consume between 3-4 pounds of fresh jalapenos weekly---but not weakly. lol I eat these raw-=--or should I say "roar?" lol
I love them and eat them like cucumbers, sometimes with grated parmesan cheese atop. Recently at a Mexican flea market in the Rio Grande Valley which is my home, a concession operator tried to make me appear foolish, maintaining I could not handle ghost peppers, supposedly forty times the heat of jalapenos. My wife coaxed me and a few passersby watched, expecting my bald head to fly off to Venus like the bottom of a copper clad frying pan..
I downed the one ounce container of ghost pepper sauce without difficulty---straight without benefit of bread or pretzels, just raw nerve. Even I was surprised but in the end it was very funny. And even my end found it laughable so all's well that ends peppered.
