#93622 RE: fung_derf #93621

Good Grief Times Two

1.) "... you seem to think giving a kid a better school is a guarantee to success."

Rather than I regurgitate my text that you have consistently bat-a-thousand each time on a "struggle to do [to comprehend] so" I will jump forward to a new concept I hold that you can understand and agree with or not that affords you an easy jumping off point for you to give your own views, which to me you already have acknowledged as agreeing with.

First,

I need to separate the Teacher role, as I'm a strong believer that any student that has not the motivation to learn from books, or has not the ability to learn from a book, is a lost cause and should exit school very early and work full time on the farm milking cows and shoveling cow pies.

But say that will not happen.

Then I suggest that from k-12 there be absolutely no tests given to obtain a grade for a student.

Absolutely no homework assignments be given.

Each student will be 100% responsible: Learn what, and to what degree, you the student and not the teacher or parent, decide.

At the end of k-12 each student receives a paper saying that they attended k-12, which has no value so no need to be done.

At this point of age around 17 they can now either apply for a job or be accepted into college.

Here they will be given their first test.

For example, to get employment into a manufacturing company the company will have them take a test of reading, writing, arithmetic, and especially to demonstrate a skill to absorb and understand and follow instructions.

A low score gets them a job sweeping floors and taking out the garbage.

A high score puts them into a company training schedule to perform a task needed in the company to help generate a service or product for customers.

A 'just' k-12 released student having an obtained skill set, usable in the company, can directly enter the work force under supervision of other workers.

This approach is that "You get the government you desire." as "You get the job you desire."

2.) Perhaps you underestimate the value of Parents over Schools?

Parents are over rated.

Its like that air-head mother that puts the sign "Just say no to drug." into her children's room and thinks she "done her job as a parent."

99% of parents I have met suck as role models.

My attitude, taken to an extreme, is that all babies once born should enter a "factor" and between k-12 have robots take care of them for the first 17 years.

No human teachers in schools, only robots and AI machines.

ok ?
