Not sure why you responded to me, but it's not a GBM and it's not DCVax, so not really relevant aside from this:
I called UCLA to try to get into a clinical trial (one where they use your brain tumor tissue to create a personalized tumor vaccine) and they were willing to give me a second opinion. They disagreed with UW and scheduled me for another brain surgery as part of the trial. When I awoke from that third brain surgery, the neurosurgeon told me that my tumor tissue was too far mixed with healthy brain cells. I was not a viable candidate for the trial. Again another dead end on my journey.
Update on Jessica Oldwyn... (thanks for posting the link Kapjak!)
She actually had her surgery done by Linda Liau but was ineligible for entering one of the UCLA trials. So Dr. Liau had recommended that she go to Germany to another clinic that was providing a DC vaccine. Then she would fly to New York to receive her scheduled injections.
She keeps a blog of her life and she is really a wonderful, amazing, delightful, heart warming person.
Anyway, apparently she had stopped treatments because she ran out of funds, but I guess didn't really mention it on the blog.
Then the CW channel began filming this Last Days series of which Jessica's story was one of them. In the story, she finally marries the guy she's been dating for a long time - she didn't want to marry him in the event that her tumor returned - and have him saddled with all these medical bills, etc. She explains all of this in the video. But because it's been a good amount of time, and the tumor hadn't returned, she plans a surprise wedding to her boyfriend... now husband.
However, if you follow the blog from after the filming of the show, you will know that the tumor has now come back. In fact, yesterday, she had a seizure that left her lying in her yard, unable to move.
Lastly... I'm not sure if she will qualify for the upcoming UCLA P2 trial - I will be checking - but that trial can not start soon enough if she does! The reason she may not qualify is that she's already been on a DC vaccine and I'm not sure if such a previous treatment will not allow her entrance. I know she was in LA for the premier of her show last week (which with all that activity - may be why she had a seizure this week), and I don't think she visited Dr. Liau during that time.
Regardless, let's hope that starting up her treatment again can help her because the world is a better place with this girl in it!
