Many thanks for giving me the chance to donate. I could not bring myself to watch the video but have prayed for her. DCVax needs to be approved urgently!

On Jessica - I forgot to add this link to a previous post of mine about her from February 2016....

I posted this on i-village as I figured Avii would appreciate it. May remind him of his own daughter who has battled and survived cancer.

Below is a link to a blog by Jessica Oldwyn. She was diagnosed with an astocytoma in 2010. She is not on DCVax. She tried to access it via Dr. Liau, probably for one of the other trials LL was conducting in 2012 (that's when she goes to UCLA) but apparently her tumor density rendered her ineligible.

But for those of you interested in the human interest side of this story, you may enjoy reading through her blog. She is still alive (thank goodness). For those of you that don't venture over to i-v, here's what I wrote about it, if you just want a brief synopsis first.

Quote:
This girl is amazing, vibrant, vivacious, and delightful. She was diagnosed with a astrocytoma in April 2010. She had it removed in Washington, and then her blog highlights all the various healthy foods she ate in her attempts to keep it from returning. Then an MRI showed it had returned, her physician in Washington recommended radiation again.

She opted to travel down to UCLA and consult with Dr. Liau. That took takes place in 2012. Upon her return from that consultation, she’s attacked in the shower by the maintenance man in her apartment! The stress of that experience takes a toll on her and she doesn't post for awhile, or make any decisions related to her treatment plan. After some time, she travels back to UCLA… and they determine via a Dopa PET that the tumor has returned. Dr. Liau does the surgery… which she is very happy to have it be while she fully sleeps… as I believe with the first surgery, she was awake, there were complications, and she very nearly died. So she is understandably wary of awake surgeries.

In the end, her tumor is not “within the density parameters” required to get the personalized vaccine. So she opts instead to travel to Germany to receive the treatment (Dusseldorf?)… and then is able to fly to New York for her continuing vaccines. I think this takes place in 2013. Linda Liau is still her physician and follows and advises her on her treatment plan.

She’s still alive as of today. She has a video blog she does with her friend who had breast cancer and those are featured on the January and February 2016 posts.

I know it’s not actually DCVax that she received, but her story is so compelling and interesting to read, I thought some of you might want to browse through it. I haven’t read through all of it yet as I was trying to determine what exactly her treatment plan had been. So I’ve perused enough of it to pretty much determine what happened… and meanwhile, learned what a delightful lady she is.
