Nowadays, $300K a year no longer makes anyone "wealthy". That's happened in a relatively short time. Even 15 years ago, that was the kind of salary only "rich" people could aspire to. But the average Ph.D working as a full professor makes $100K or less annually. Assistant and associate professors make much less. Naturally there are exceptions: famous people, people in some of the sciences, people who also have lucrative consulting gigs. But the average academic doesn't do all that well.

Ok so why can't both parties fix these things?

Attacks on the bullshit tax treatment carried interest, regulated futures, and inversions offshore I can dig.

I don't think it's the Democrats stopping it?
