It depends if he believed at the time he wrote it. Knowingly making such a statement would be wrong and yes despicable. If he believed it, then it was a mistake. Seems to me his overall point is that ANY is inconsistent in its patent communications. I have no view as yet as I haven't researched it.

On the pump side it's often hard to distinguish between mistakes and knowingly pumping (eg embedded in Windows 10 lol).
