31st case of Bird Flu in Indonesia (link below). Twelfth person dies in Egypt. Etc etc. Right now humans are only getting this from direct contact to poultry or wild birds. So monitoring the source makes sense (STTK's RFID system). If the bug mutates and can pass from human to human, it's a whole new ball game. Hopefully we won't get to that stage. STTK is proposing a security/police kind of monitoring for commercial and rural poultry farms. Exactly what we need at this juncture in the crisis.

BadDog is right. Several of my friends are doctors and they are all very concerned about the reality of a human-human relayable strain of the virus. Look at the stats on chickens dying, and replace chickens with humans in each news report.

That said, the strain has yet to emerge, and it is possible that a vaccine will be developed before such evolution. But logically, trusting in that is like driving on iffy brakes.

re: Uniqueness of STTK's tech, there are many companies on the livestock tracking bandwagon, among them ADSX/DOC, which has been in this niche for several years.

In this case, it's the contract that matters. ie: Not who has the tech, but who makes the biz deal for the revenue.

For my part, I got into STTK mainly because of the underlying, growing security installation foundation of the company. Real revenues in hand there, with great growth potential.

From the 10Q on pinksheets:

http://www.pinksheets.com/quote/print_filings.jsp?url=%2Fredirect.asp%3Ffilename%3D0001137171%252D06...

STTK revs for 6mo prior to 12/31/06 were $210k/mo (1286k/6).
For 3mo prior to 12/31/06: $252k/mo (756k/3)

In the path month, they've release PR announcing over $3m in new contracts:

$1500k -- Spectrum, Coopers Lookout
$500k -- Green Harbor, The Rise
$500k -- King Edward Village
$500k -- Pomaria, Laguna, La Colomba and Skyline
$150k -- The Vine

In balance, with 70m/100m shares outstanding (take your pick, it only changes the math by 30%), even $3m/year in revenue would yield a 20-30 price/sales ratio with STTK at $1. ie: More realistically, current security biz contracts are worth about 6-15 cents/share at a 2-3 P/S.

Consider the rapid increase in contracts since 2005 and the marquee names of their current projects, STTK does seem well positioned to cash in on the Vancouver Olympic building boom. And we all know how important security is at the Olympics. So the 6-15 cents/share could easier ramp up quickly in 2006-2007.

Nutshell, imo, the bird flu tracking biz is potentially a large PPS-driver for STTK, but the investment is also hedged on the growing security biz foundation.

I sent Smart-Tek an email about the officers not being able to comment on the stocklemon allegations because of a pending legal action.

I have no doubt some lawyer told them that but it is ridiculous.

Where a company suffers prejudice from such allegations they are allowed to immediately rebut and point by point and in fact they have an obligation to do so to protect the company and the shareholders.

( to avoid an argument over this--it is is found in the American Bar Association Rules on Professional Responsibility in the section on pretrial publicity)

If any of you wish to send a similar email, fine.
