the japanese liscences were for pdc/phs primarily...i think ericsonn would have agreed to the same deal for phs/pdc..and of course when faced w/ the choice of less vs more..you would have demanded more....as far as nokia...how would you have handled the fact that nokia was waiting on ericy no matter what you wished would happen...and you would have waited on ericy until the courthouse steps...what happened if they decided to walk you into your vaunted halls of justice and kicked your ass just like motorola?...and even if they won..dragged you out past your breaking point w/ the appeals process....and exactly who should we "hire" as an independent arbiter of whats essential to 3g...and would your liscencees agree w/ their findings...as far as i know thats what pa consulting is working on as we speak....its tough business when you start saying what you would have done...vs the reality of the situation....im sure if you asked howard he would say....sure i wish all those things could have happened...but it just wasnt gonna happen given our negotiating position after the loss to motorola......and to think that you could have made these things happen by your mere suggestive prescence...is the ultimate in hubris and arrogance that you seem to abhor in others

Agreed with you here. I would have at least impose the market interest rate post 2002. Have discussed this with IR. My perception is they assumed that Ericy would be resolved before 2002. Well, they assume, thus they make an ASS out of U and ME.
