It's really hard to sell ammonia reduction to Aquaculture if you don't know anything about Aquaculture.

MCA is Microbial Controlled Aquaculture. My ponds use it control ammonia, but even someone who uses biofilters should recognize that ammonia can be controlled by adding carbs to the diet, or reducing proteins.

The carbs combine with nitrates to form proteins. If you use a biofilter, they get sucked up. If you use a protein skimmer they get bubbled off, and if you use MCA, they get eaten.

It's real cheap protein for the fishies. Have you seen the price of high protein diets lately?

I actually add ammonia to my tanks everyday, because the sun seems to add too many carbs and sequesters a lot of carbon.
