I used to think McDonald’s and its franchisees were dumb to spend so much money on refurbishing the restaurants every few years, thinking that no one really cared what they looked like.
I could not possibly have been more wrong. Changing the interior and exterior of fast-food restaurants every few years makes all the difference in the world, and MCD has the sales numbers to prove it. Other than The Global Demographic Tailwind, there is no probably no issue as consequential to MCD’s continued growth.
I still don’t fully understand why remodeling fast-food restaurants every few years makes such a big difference to customers, but it’s crystal clear that it does.
