Jimlur:Short term yes in the market BUT that would be another example of why not to follow the 'wisdom' of the market--IMHO it would affect revenues obviously but at this point revenues are irrelevant--there is a much much bigger picture here.
But IMHO any acquirer realizes that NOK will pay voluntarily or otherwise eventually so the short term impact of devaluing a few patents out of many doesn't mean much--honestly it would never have meant a whole lot. And IMHO the reason for the timing of the follow on suit is twofold:
1) it sends exactly the message above
2) managment sat on their butts and wasn't aggressive enough up to date and should have filed follow on actions on other patents and then when the continuation patent was issued filed the one they did the other day rather than waiting.
It should have been filed a long time ago along with a slew of other lawsuits--that is how to get paid in this business and it is how to get others to license rather than endlessly negotiate and talk to us til they are blue in the face without signing or paying or intending to do so unless and until we forced them to!
I noticed that there was pretty much unanimous applause here the other day when the suit was filed--despite the fact that several had reacted negatively to my repeated urgings that the company needed to adapt a MUCH more aggressive litigation strategy as an adjunct to the licensing negotiations.
Interesting. I also note a LOT of insight and retrospective insight here claimed by many. Honestly only a few have understood the big picture here IMHO and only a few 'got it' that the Nortel auction was going to provide a new and better way to value this company and few 'got it' when the Nortel auction results were announced.
And some here still don't 'get it' and probably never will--at least until we see the final price that IDCC sells for which IMHO will blow people's minds. It is pretty obvious that for the most part Wall Street is STILL missing the boat here, still doesn't 'get it' when it comes to the big picture and astounding undervaluation even after our run up. A once in a lifetime opportunity still exists here IMHO and lots are missing out.
Their loss IMHO
