CEO of one of those companies was on CNBC recently. Had a vial of clear liquid that he said was an example of gas to liquid process. Build plants on site at remote locations and then is able to transport liquid more easily and economically than LNG process. Is expensive to build onsite plant but is one alternative for isolated gas that is not close to pipeline or market that can use gas by pipeline.
Said diesel by this process was ultra clean with minimal sulphur and other contaminants. I will try to find a reference. Bobwins
