That's a tough decision. I once used Norton a long time ago and McAfee as well and got rid of both because of the amount of resources they used up, and the drain on the computer by slowing it down. But about a year ago I bought a new laptop that came with the new Norton free trial and it truly was new. It ran in the background and I could not tell it was even running. They had totally streamlined the program and it was no longer a resource hog at all. So when the free trial ran out, I subscribed because I liked it so much and kept it. I'm still running it in fact. And I also use Malwarebytes. I don't mind paying for it because if you ever have an issue that you can't resolve their tech support is VERY helpful and you get the support for free when you are a subscriber of the service.

But, the free programs you mentioned based on everything I've read, mostly on this board and Dream Machine board, will perform just fine for you. The top techie guys of both these boards say that MSE is a fine program. And it's well known that Malwarebytes is probably the best Malware program currently available.

So for you, it's really just a matter of personal preference because IMO no matter which route you go, you will have more than enough protection.

Good luck with whatever you decide!!!

"Sort of" is harmless "Sort of". Is a filler. But sometimes, "sort of" means everything. Like after "I love you" or "You're going to live" or "It's a boy".
