I use MS firewall, MSSE and have Malwarebytes installed [the latter only runs when I start it for a scan, weekly]

Most if not all of these are what Bruce recommends.
I run spybot weekly, too. It only found tracking cookies from running Chrome with 3rd party cookies accepted. I checked the box for 'block all 3rd party cookies' and now spybot finds nothing.
