Assuming that the deep diver recovers eventually....

If the DD does in fact recover, then you would have been better off to leave well enough alone assuming the recovery happens next.

Should a recovery be five years down the road and nothing but sharp cyclical activity trending around a flat overall slope happen in the mean time, then it might be possible to do better than leaving it alone.

Much depends upon the trade pattern and length of time (or number of cycles).
