Symbol and/or name change is no problem. I have experienced it many times. Your old shares are simply electronically exchanged for new ones, no work for you. Nothing at all to worry about. I'm surprised you haven't experienced it before if you've been investing for several years. Maybe I just follow more 'unstable' stocks than you :)
