Launch open to public viewing?
Getting Joe Public onto a base isn't as easy as it was before 9-11, but when something the size of a football field goes up, there should be a pretty good view from anywhere within a half-mile radius.
A question back at you: if you had something several stories tall, as big as a football field, and weighing several tons.... And if you had to get it from its assembly point to Edwards AFB, how would you move it from point A to point B?
Hint: "It floats."
If you're thinking like I'm thinking, there's a launch prior to the Edwards launch and one that can be viewed without having to drive several hours out into the desert.
So, is it Vandenburg or Norton??
