Congressman Henry Waxman is being a jackass, IMO, for opposing construction of the Keystone pipeline from the Canadian oil sands to the US because of its “climate effect.”

The pipeline itself does not produce material greenhouse gasses. If the US nixes the pipeline, Canada can export the oil to Asia and the US will have to pay more to get an equivalent amount of oil from another source.

It’s because of people like Waxman that I’m somewhat gun shy about investing in one of the oil sands plays.
