And does this mean I should re-run Adaware and Spybot immediately? I rebooted my system after each.

No

Should I have run both, then Disabled System Restore, before I rebooted?

No

Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore

The first page of System Restore has a box market Turn Off System restore.

Turn it off and then dump your recycle bin. Then turn it back on.

You can do that after you do the Hijack This routine. Be careful with Hijack This. Do only what the forum link tells you to.
